S-Tier — Meta Defining

Napoli

Italy • Cruiser • Tier X

Coal — Armory

The best coal ship in 2026 and arguably the strongest cruiser in the game. SAP secondaries shred destroyers, exhaust smoke lets you disengage freely, and the armor is absurdly tanky for a cruiser. Napoli can 1v1 battleships. No ship offers this combination of survivability, damage output, and utility. If you have coal, buy Napoli.

Petropavlovsk

USSR • Cruiser • Tier X

Tech Tree — Soviet Cruisers

Flat shell arcs, high velocity guns, and a 50mm icebreaker bow. Petropavlovsk can citadel battleships at 18km and bounce most AP shells off its nose. Radar + hydro make it the king of cap control. Dominant in Ranked and Clan Battles — arguably the best tech-tree cruiser for competitive play.

Bourgogne

France • Battleship • Tier X

Steel — Armory

The ultimate flanker. Speed Boost + Main Battery Reload Booster on a battleship. Bourgogne can appear on your broadside, unload three salvos with reload booster active, and disappear before you can turn your turrets. High skill floor but unmatched carry potential. The best steel ship, period.

Marceau

France • Destroyer • Tier X

Coal — Armory

The fastest ship in World of Warships at 55 knots with speed boost active. French saturation mechanic lets it survive punishment that would kill other destroyers. No smoke, but with this speed you don't need it. Open-water gunboat that makes battleship players rage. Coal ship = completely free.

A-Tier — Extremely Strong

Montana

USA • Battleship • Tier X

Tech Tree — US Battleships

The most consistent Tier X battleship. 12 accurate 406mm guns, strong AA, good armor, and no real weakness. The best beginner Tier X battleship. While it doesn't have gimmicks, Montana rewards fundamentals — positioning, target selection, and angling are all you need to dominate.

Shimakaze

Japan • Destroyer • Tier X

Tech Tree — Japanese Destroyers

Fifteen torpedoes every two minutes. The Shimakaze wall of skill is legendary. Best concealment in tier, devastating torpedo alpha, and a playstyle that's pure adrenaline. Stealth torpedo boats never go out of meta. Every captain should experience launching 15 torps at an unsuspecting battleship.

Conqueror

Great Britain • Battleship • Tier X

Tech Tree — British Battleships

HE spam incarnate. Conqueror sets fires like no other ship — 419mm HE shells with 48% fire chance per shell. Super-heal repairs 40% of your HP. Incredibly forgiving for new battleship players and infuriating to play against. If you want to watch the world burn, Conqueror is your ship.

Salem

USA • Cruiser • Tier X

Coal — Armory

Des Moines with a super-heal. 6-second reload on 203mm guns. Excellent AP against broadside cruisers and battleships. Radar + hydro for cap control. The super-heal gives you insane survivability. For coal, Salem is cheaper than Napoli and nearly as strong — fantastic value.

Daring

Great Britain • Destroyer • Tier X

Tech Tree — British Destroyers

The ultimate cap contesting destroyer. Hydro, heal, short-burst smoke, and rapid-fire guns. Daring out-trades every other destroyer at its tier. Single-fire torpedoes let you snipe specific targets. The most complete destroyer package in the game.

Minotaur

Great Britain • Cruiser • Tier X

Tech Tree — British Cruisers (Light)

AP-only rapid fire machine gun. Minotaur in smoke can output 500k+ damage in a good game. Super-heal and radar option for competitive. Incredibly high skill ceiling — a great Minotaur player carries games. Fragile when caught, but the risk is worth the reward.

B-Tier — Solid & Reliable

Yamato

Japan • Battleship • Tier X

Tech Tree — Japanese Battleships

460mm guns that overmatch 32mm plating — Yamato laughs at your bow-tanking. The biggest guns in the game. Legendary accuracy module makes it surprisingly precise. Cheese citadel is a vulnerability, but a well-positioned Yamato deletes cruisers in one salvo. Pure icon status.

Gearing

USA • Destroyer • Tier X

Tech Tree — US Destroyers

The original hybrid destroyer. Long-duration smoke, decent torpedoes, and solid guns. Gearing does everything well — caps, smoke support, torpedo zoning. It's been power-crept by newer DDs but remains a reliable and versatile pick that teaches good fundamentals.

Preussen

Germany • Battleship • Tier X

Tech Tree — German Battleships

Bismarck's bigger, angrier brother. Devastating secondary battery reach (12.5km+), turtleback armor, and 457mm main guns. Preussen wants to be within 12km of enemies — and at that range, nothing out-trades it. Hydro and fighter for utility. The ultimate brawler.

St. Vincent

Great Britain • Battleship • Tier X

Tech Tree — British Battlecruisers

Fast, stealthy, and armed with 457mm guns and torpedoes. St. Vincent has the second-best concealment among Tier X BBs, letting it reposition undetected. Torpedoes give it a close-range trump card. Super-heal + speed makes it one of the hardest BBs to kill.

Harugumo

Japan • Destroyer • Tier X

Tech Tree — Japanese Gunboat DDs

A light cruiser disguised as a destroyer. Ten 100mm guns with IFHE pen 32mm — Harugumo farms battleships for breakfast. The highest DPM destroyer in the game. Slow and clumsy, but position it correctly and it prints damage numbers.

Gouden Leeuw

Netherlands • Cruiser • Tier X

Tech Tree — Dutch Cruisers

Airstrike mechanic lets you bomb enemies from behind islands. No other ship can do this. Strong AA, decent armor, and excellent at area denial. The bombs hit hard against stationary targets — perfect for punishing camping battleships.

Honorable Mentions

Ships that deserve recognition — some removed from sale, some Research Bureau exclusives, all legendary.

Halland

European destroyer — fastest torpedoes in the game, no smoke, excellent AA. CV nightmare.

Ohio

Research Bureau battleship — 457mm guns, fast heal, secondaries. Worth the RB grind.

Småland

Removed from sale, only in Santa Crates. Best gunboat DD ever made. If you get it, play it.

Stalingrad

Steel cruiser — battlecruiser accuracy with 305mm guns. Still meta in competitive.

Vampire II

Commonwealth RB destroyer — crawling smoke + hydro + 5km concealment. Ranked monster.

Thunderer

Removed from sale. 457mm guns with 63% fire chance. The most broken BB ever released.

How I Rank Ships

This tier list is based on thousands of battles in Random Battles, Ranked, and Clan Battles. Ships are evaluated on: battle impact (how much you can influence the outcome), consistency (how reliably the ship performs), skill floor and ceiling (accessibility vs potential), versatility across game modes, and fun factor — because enjoying the ship matters.

S-Tier: These ships define the meta. They're the best at what they do and dominate their role. If you want to win, play S-Tier ships.

A-Tier: Extremely strong picks. Slightly less dominant than S-Tier but still top performers. Often more accessible or easier to acquire.

B-Tier: Solid and reliable. These ships are good but have clear weaknesses or have been power-crept. Still perfectly viable in Random Battles.

Last updated: July 2026. Meta changes with every update — I'll keep this list current.
