Hey, I'm Jay 👋
Your Guide to Free-to-Play Gaming
I'm a lifelong gamer who got obsessed with free-to-play titles back when browser games were the only thing my ancient PC could run. That obsession never left. I've sunk thousands of hours into MMORPGs, strategy games, tank simulators, idle RPGs, and everything in between — and I've been writing about them honestly ever since.
I started JayPlaysGames.com because I was tired of reviews that either hype games up without mentioning the pay-to-win walls, or trash games without giving them a fair shake. I wanted a place where you could get a real answer to the real question: is this game actually worth your time?
I play games the way most readers will — as a free-to-play or low-spend player, grinding progression, pushing through mid-game, and finding the point where monetisation starts to bite. If it bites hard, I tell you. If it's genuinely generous, I tell you that too.

How I Review Games
Every review on this site follows the same process. I don't cut corners and I don't publish first impressions as final verdicts.
Honest, Unfiltered Reviews
I never publish a review without putting real time into a game. No press kits, no paid placements — just my genuine take after grinding through tutorials, endgame content, and everything in between.
In-Depth Guides That Actually Work
I write guides the way I wish someone had written them for me when I started. Beginner-friendly, jargon-explained, and updated when patches change the meta.
F2P Fairness Testing
Every free-to-play game gets tested as a free player first. I call out pay-to-win mechanics when they exist and tell you exactly how far you can realistically get without spending a cent.
Community-Driven Content
If readers tell me a guide is wrong or a recommendation doesn't hold up, I update it. This site exists to be useful, not to look good.
Areas of Expertise
The Mission
JayPlaysGames.com exists to cut through the noise. The free-to-play space is massive, often confusing, and full of games that look great in trailers but disappoint in practice. My job is to be the friend who already played it and gives you the straight answer.
I have a particular focus on PC free-to-play titles — strategy games, MMORPGs, tank and naval combat games, idle RPGs — because that is where I have the most genuine expertise and where I think quality recommendations are hardest to find. A lot of the coverage in this space is either promotional or surface-level. I try to be neither.
If you find a guide outdated, a review that misses something important, or a game I haven't covered that deserves attention, reach out. This site improves because readers tell me where it falls short. That feedback is genuinely valued, not ignored.
