How to Climb to Gold in Raid Arena (Beginner Friendly)
Gold is the first Arena milestone that actually pays off. Below Gold, the rewards are thin and the grind feels pointless. Once you hit Gold, you unlock meaningful Great Hall bonuses that quietly boost your champions across every piece of content in the game, and you start earning Arena tokens at a rate worth spending. It's the first real threshold that changes how your account feels.
Most players get stuck in Silver and don't understand why. Here's what's happening and how to fix it.
Why Arena Is Different
Everything else in Raid tests your team against AI. Arena is PvP. The enemies were built by real players who have been optimising their setups, and the matchmaking will eventually put you in front of teams that are specifically designed to go before you and delete you before you can act.
Arena in Raid is almost entirely about going first. Whoever moves first usually wins. That's not an exaggeration. A team that takes the first turn can kill or cripple the enemy team before they get to do anything. The enemy never recovers. The match ends in one round.
This means Arena is not a damage check. It's a Speed race. If your team is faster than theirs, you go first. If you go first and hit hard enough, you win. That's the whole game in Silver and Gold. Everything you build for Arena needs to start with that understanding.
The Beginner Gold Team Shape
You don't need a full roster of six-star champions to reach Gold. You need one fast team that can execute on the go-first plan.
The shape looks like this: one champion to extend your turn-meter advantage or boost your team's Speed so you move before the enemy, and one strong AoE attacker who can wipe or cripple the enemy team on turn one. This combination is called a speed nuke team. The booster sets up the sequence, the nuker closes it out.
For the AoE attacker: Kael is the game's default starter champion and he works. His kit includes an AoE ability that can hit the whole enemy team, and if he's geared well enough with enough Crit Rate, Crit Damage, and ATK%, he can deal serious damage across the board on turn one. He's not flashy and you'll eventually replace him, but he can carry you to Gold and there's no shame in that.
The booster is the piece that accelerates your team above the enemy's natural Speed. Some champions extend turn-meter for your whole team, which effectively gives you extra free turns. Others reduce the enemy's turn-meter, slowing them down so you hit first by default. Either works. Look through your roster for champions with skills that mention turn meter or grant Speed buffs to the whole team.
Speed Aura Matters
Every champion has an Aura, and the champion in your lead position shares their Aura with the rest of your team in Arena battles. Auras in Clan Boss or dungeons only apply in those specific modes. Arena Auras only apply in Arena. They're separate.
If your lead champion has a Speed Aura for Arena, your whole team starts the fight with more base Speed. More base Speed means you move earlier in turn order. Since winning Arena is about going first, a good Speed Aura lead is not optional at high Silver — it's mandatory.
The way to find one: check your champions' Aura descriptions and look for ones that say they increase Speed for all allies in Arena battles. Put the champion with the strongest Speed Aura in your lead slot. You're not picking the lead for their personal kit here. You're picking them to make your whole team faster before the fight even starts.

Gear Your Arena Team for Speed First
This follows from everything above. Your Arena team's gear job is: be faster than the enemy. Damage comes second. Speed comes first.
Speed Boots with Speed as the main stat on every Arena team member. No exceptions unless you have a very specific reason. Speed substats on every piece you can manage. The difference between an Arena team that wins and one that loses at Silver 4 is often a handful of Speed points that determine who moves first.
Once you've sorted Speed, then look at the nuker's damage. They need enough Crit Rate to land crits reliably, enough Crit Damage for those crits to hit hard, and enough ATK% to make the raw hits count. But if your nuker is fast and hits first, they need less raw power than a slower team would need — because they're hitting champions who have full health and no buffs, not champions who've already acted and buffed themselves up.
Gear the Speed lead for survivability if possible, since they'll absorb the opening hits in fights where you don't fully wipe the enemy. Gear the nuker purely for damage after Speed is sorted.
Pick Your Fights
Arena gives you a list of opponents and lets you refresh that list. Use this. You are under no obligation to fight teams that will beat you.
At Silver, especially late Silver, you will see teams that are clearly faster than yours or that have champions designed to counter the speed nuke strategy with shields or immunity buffs. Fighting those teams wastes your daily attempts and costs you progress. Skip them.
Look for teams that have clearly slow setups, low-level gear, or champion compositions that can't respond to a turn-one AoE nuke. Attack those. It's not unsporting — every other player is doing the same thing. The ones climbing fastest are the ones being selective.
You have a limited number of Arena attacks per day. Spend them on fights you can win.
What Gold Gets You
The Great Hall is the reward that makes the grind worth it. It's a permanent stat upgrade system unlocked by earning medals in Arena. You earn medals by fighting and by reaching tier milestones. Gold tier means better medals, which means faster Great Hall progression.
The Great Hall bonuses apply everywhere. Accuracy, Defence, HP, Attack, Crit Rate, Crit Damage, Speed — small percentage increases on your champions in every dungeon, Clan Boss run, and campaign stage. They compound over time and they don't reset. Every upgrade you buy stays permanently.
Arena tokens are the secondary currency earned by fighting and climbing. The Arena shop sells shards, energy, and occasionally useful gear. Gold tier players earn tokens faster and access more of the shop reliably.
The point is that reaching Gold doesn't just feel good. It actively makes the rest of the game easier in ways that are hard to see until you've been there a while.
The Honest Plan
Here's what actually works: pick your fastest champion with a Speed Aura and put them in lead. Build one AoE nuker — Kael if you have nothing better — with Speed boots, Speed substats, and enough damage to hurt. Add a turn-meter booster if you have one. Refresh the opponent list until you find a team you can beat. Win that fight. Repeat.
It's not complicated. It's repetitive and it takes time, but the path is clear. Most players stuck in Silver aren't failing because their team is bad. They're failing because they're fighting the wrong opponents, gearing for damage instead of Speed, or not running a Speed Aura lead.
Fix those three things and you'll climb. Play Raid for free and start building that Arena team — Gold is genuinely within reach for a focused beginner.
